Lemongrass, also known as Indian verbena or lemon grass, is a herbaceous plant that belongs to the Poaceae family and to the Cymbopogon genus. This genus actually includes about fifty lemongrass species from Asia, such as lemon verbena, lemon balm and lemon thyme. During the Renaissance, lemongrass was used for perfume. Today, it is known to repel mosquitoes even if its effectiveness is questioned in favor of lemon eucalyptus. But it is above all a plant that allows us to enjoy. As its name indicates, tropical lemongrass powder comes from tropical countries where all the conditions are met to cultivate it and obtain a high quality spice. Lemongrass can be transformed into oil, powder, but we can also use its sticks to decorate the recipes.
Although lemongrass should not be confused with lemon, it does have fresh and pleasant lemony notes.
Lemongrass is a herbaceous plant with long leaves from 90 cm to 2 m long. It is possible to multiply clumps in spring, while the harvest is done in any season. It is the base of the stem which is taken and used in the raw state or dried to be then crushed and to obtain this splendid lemongrass in tropical powder.
In the kitchen, lemongrass will bring a breath of freshness. As soon as the starter, it makes its show and comes to decorate your salads and other soups. It goes best with white meats. Very much used in Asian cuisine, it flavors all your chicken-based preparations, whether pan-fried, barbecued or baked. I advise you to make a marinade with oil, lemongrass, chilli and ginger. Its lemony flavors also make it a great ally for your fish. These will be delicately enhanced by the tropical lemongrass powder. In a papillote of fish with small vegetables cut in sticks or grated, it brings this incredible freshness which makes all the difference. You can also use it in a sauce to accompany your fish and add some pep to your dish. The lemongrass powder is perfectly associated with coconut, we can imagine a dish with Asian flavors composed of shrimp, coconut milk, lemongrass powder, all accompanied by a delicious Cantonese rice. A rice which, itself, can perfectly be decorated with this tropical lemongrass powder. At the end of the meal, the lemongrass will be tasted as an herbal tea to digest well.
I deliver tropical lemongrass powder in a resealable bag. You can thus perfectly preserve it in this sachet which you will place at the shelter of moisture and the light.
