Vanille de Tahiti - Grand Cru "Black Pearl" : an exceptional product

When one thinks of vanilla, one immediately thinks of the delicious Bourbon vanilla produced on Reunion Island or in Madagascar. And yet, less known, but just as fabulous in terms of taste, Tahitian vanilla has nothing to envy to its competitor. In Tahiti, we do not produce Bourbon vanilla. Indeed, only the countries of the Indian Ocean can obtain this appellation. But who cares, you will notice it by tasting this exceptional product, the name does not make the quality. I have traveled extensively around the world in search of the best vanillas. Tahiti, this archipelago full of magic with its breathtaking landscapes and its unique beaches conceals a treasure: its vanilla. Go to the markets of Papeete to admire the enticing stalls with magnificent vanilla pods. Their appearance, their smell, everything gives envy. On the island of Taha'a, the vanilla market is held every month. A real paradise for vanilla lovers. The island offers the best climatic conditions for this product to develop. Vanilla tahitensis and Vanilla planifolia are produced here. The pods of the first mentioned ripen on a vine. The pods of the second are picked before maturity and are steamed. Two methods, but always an outstanding quality. Tahitian vanilla is one of the most expensive in the world. Why is it so expensive? Simply because it is produced in smaller quantities than Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar. Rarity makes the price, it is known. Today, great chefs such as Guy Savoy admit that they are enchanted by the power and refinement of this high quality product.

Cultivation of Tahitian vanilla - Grand Cru "Black Pearl": what you need to know

As we have mentioned, in Tahiti, two cultures are practiced. If Vanilla tahitensis is picked ripe with its beautiful brown pods, Vanilla planifolia follows a different process. It requires a great deal of care and attention to detail to achieve its full potential. As it is produced, each pod is massaged to blend its aromatic components. From the cultivation of the orchid that gives us this wonderful vanilla to the harvesting and the care given to the pods, everything is done to offer you a great vintage.

The conservation of your Tahitian vanilla pod - Grand Cru "Black Pearl

Madagascar vanilla, Reunion vanilla or Tahitian vanilla, whatever the product you have purchased, you must take the utmost care of it. A good conservation is the condition sine qua non so that your vanilla develops all its flavours and comes to decorate your dishes in the best way. If there are various ways to preserve vanilla, we suggest you place it in an airtight jar with a base of alcohol. It will keep all its properties.

Why is tasting Tahitian vanilla so important?

Because it is excellent! The quality of Tahitian vanilla has been proven. But that's not all. This rare product is also a natural antidepressant, a low-calorie product that allows you to sweeten while keeping your figure and a partner of your digestion. A good and healthy product, why do without it?

Tahitian vanilla - Grand Cru "Black Pearl" takes over your kitchen

You are used to vanilla powder, vanilla sugar, vanilla flavors, you will be surprised by the Tahitian vanilla. Its fleshy pods, its aromatic palette, everything is done so that you can no longer do without its small black beans.
You can split its pods and infuse this fragrant vanilla to flavor your dishes.

Pas encore infusée mais son parfum m'a immédiatement agréablement surpris : très riche et suave, complexe et particulièrement florale. Excellent choix, j'ai hâte de la tester en yaourt.
