Vanilla lovers are familiar with Bourbon vanilla, a product that delights the taste buds. But do you know why it's called Bourbon vanilla and what territories produce it? When France took possession of Reunion Island in the 17th century, it named it Ile Bourbon. Why this name? Quite simply because it was the name of the dynasty ruling in France at the time. It was then called Ile Bonaparte and took the name of Bourbon from 1810 to 1848. In 1964, a label was created to differentiate vanilla produced in the Indian Ocean from other vanillas in the world. Vanilla, originally from Mexico, having been introduced to Reunion Island before being produced in other countries, the label took the name Bourbon.
Did you know that? Only vanilla produced on Reunion Island, Madagascar, the Seychelles, the Comoros and Mauritius can bear the name Bourbon vanilla.
You may have noticed, while browsing through my site, that I have given sizes to my vanilla beans. If this makes it possible to distinguish them to make your choice easier, it is also because Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar is a luxury product in the same way as haute couture. It is up to you to choose the size that suits you best.
It is tasted like a grand cru and has its place at the greatest tables, moreover the great chefs of the Collège Culinaire de France recommend my vanilla, a true honor for the passionate person that I am!
Here is the Bourbon Gold vanilla bean size S, about 13 cm long. This little marvel has everything to delight your taste buds. Cocoa and fruity notes, beautiful black beans that are just waiting to sublimate your culinary preparations, an incredible aromatic power, this fleshy vanilla bean from Madagascar of medium size has everything of a great.
It is not a question here of explaining all the stages of the culture of vanilla, but at least to show you the basics to better understand where vanilla comes from, from its plantation to its consumption through its cultivation and harvest. Bourbon vanilla comes from a variety of orchids. When the orchid flower appears, it must be pollinated. Fertilized, it will produce magnificent vanilla pods after about 9 months. Then, these pods undergo several stages (scalding, steaming, drying, boxing, grading). This is when the Bourbon Gold vanilla from Madagascar becomes a unique product capable of bewitching your sense of smell.
Your vanilla is like a treasure to be lovingly preserved and pampered so that it retains all its properties and inimitable taste. If there are several ways to preserve it, we suggest you place it in a well-sealed jar with a base of alcohol. Avoid corks, as there is a risk of mould growing. You can also keep it in the freezer, well protected by a film
Vanilla is a natural antidepressant. Just look at its beautiful, fleshy pods and you'll be able to smile again and imagine the pleasure on your taste buds. On the other hand, its aroma is simply fabulous and its sweetening power allows it to replace sugar for a light pleasure. But the Bourbon Gold vanilla size S from Madagascar also helps digestion, do not hesitate to taste it at the end of the meal in your preparations.
It's time to revel in the subtle taste of vanilla. Put away your sachet of vanilla sugar, vanillin, vanilla flavouring or any other vanilla flavoured product and take out your beans grown with the greatest care by passionate producers. Split to flavor a milk or to delicately remove its black beans full of flavor, your Madagascar vanilla beans size S will delight your palate.
Here are some ideas of use of your vanilla:

rum - caramel cream with fleur de sel
- chicken with island
