This tea is an ode to my travels to Mae Salong in the Golden Triangle. Many Chinese fleeing from Mao have descended the Mekong over a hundred kilometers and arrived in Thailand. From their integrations result magnificent tea plantations, each more exceptional than the other. The inhabitants of this village have the habit of serving you Jasmine tea as soon as you land with them. This Mekong jasmine green tea is a real ode to Asia. It is composed of green tea from Fujian, the preferred drink of Buddhist monks, and jasmine, a plant that is grown mainly in Asia, particularly in China.

By drinking this jasmine tea, you cross borders without leaving your armchair. Imagine yourself for a moment in the heart of a luxuriant field of tea trees or in a jasmine plantation, smelling the bewitching scent of its small, elegant and delicate white flowers. What are the flavours of Mekong Jasmine green tea?

To the nose, it seems difficult to find a more floral tea. To the taste, this drink does not betray this first impression. The floral flavours are naturally embodied by the jasmine flowers that have accompanied this tea for two weeks to transmit all their fragrance and taste. But Fujian tea is also a very floral and herbaceous tea. A wind of freshness blows on your tasting.

Mekong Jasmine green tea: from the plantation to the cup

Fujian green tea is a tea grown in China. Like all green teas, it is not oxidized, so it undergoes a specific transformation process to stop oxidation immediately. Also, the green tea leaves are first roasted. As this Fujian tea is produced in China, the Chinese method is adopted which consists of placing the tea leaves in a metal basin at 100°. A few seconds are enough to kill the enzymes responsible for the oxidation. The tea leaves are then softened, and we move on to the rolling stage. The objective is to give them a specific shape that will influence their taste. Finally, for a perfect preservation, they are dried in a room where heat and humidity are masterfully controlled by the Chinese tea experts.

When the tea leaves are dry, they are combined with jasmine flowers for two weeks. This is when the magic happens. The jasmine delicately blends with the flavours of the green tea to give you an inimitable Mekong jasmine green tea.
