Black tea - Assam Maijian O.P.: a quality tea Orange Pekoe

Let's start by defining what O.P. means for the uninitiated. O.P. stands for Orange Pekoe. In tea, there are different grades. When you consume an Orange Pekoe tea, it means that your tea bag contains young whole leaves of the tea tree. For information, there is no link with the citrus fruit of the same name. Orange here comes from the Dutch dynasty Oranje Nassau. Pekoe means "down" in Chinese and corresponds to the terminal bud on the tea plant.

Assam Maijian O.P. tea is a tea whose leaves are picked late when the bud has started to turn into leaves.

It is a black tea and as such, it is both tasty and full of virtues. You can consume several cups a day without any problem.

The Assam Maijian is a tea that comes from India, and more precisely from the province of Assam. The tea tree that allows us to enjoy this high quality tea flourishes on low altitude lands in a hot and humid environment.

What are the flavors of the black tea - Assam Maijian O.P.?

This Assam Maijian O.P. black tea reveals spicy notes on the nose that are reminiscent of nutmeg and Tellichery pepper. On tasting, one appreciates its spicy, woody and even malty aromas with a nice length in the mouth.

Like any black tea worthy of the name, Assam Maijian O.P. is oxidized. It is when the buds have given way to the young tea leaves that we pick this Orange Pekoe. If the time of picking has a strong influence on the quality of your black tea, it is the manufacturing steps that will help it to reveal all its flavors and make this product a great tea.

The work of the tea leaf is done in 5 steps:
- the withering which consists in reducing by half the humidity of the leaves and to begin the process of oxidation necessary to the manufacture of a black tea. Temperature and ventilation are controlled with the greatest rigor;
- rolling: the tea leaves are still soft and are then shaped to define the full-bodied aspect of the tea;
-oxidation: a specific stage for black tea, which consists of leaving the leaves for a few hours in a room where humidity, ventilation and heat are again controlled;
- roasting: like a coffee, Assam Maijian O.P. tea is roasted in a large dryer at 90° for only 15 to 20 minutes;
- sorting: broken or whole leaves, this is where the tea leaves are sorted according to their grade.

Assam Maijian tea can be enjoyed at any time of the day and can be enjoyed at breakfast or as a snack with sweet cakes. However, you should know that it can also be consumed at mealtime. It goes perfectly with poultry.

The virtues of black tea - Assam Maijian O.P.

Assam Maijian O.P. is a black tea, which gives it many virtues.

Less rich in flavonoids, and therefore in antioxidants, than green tea, black tea is nevertheless recognized for its ability to fight against cellular aging.

On the other hand, it reduces bad cholesterol and thus helps protect the heart.

Low-calorie, black tea fits perfectly into a diet, and even more so if you do not sweeten it.

Assam Maijian black tea is rich in tannins, which allows it to play a favorable role on your digestive system.

Finally, theaflavins present in the tea destroy abnormal cells, so black tea can play an active role in cancer prevention.
