Mamma mia mia!!!!! When we talk about Italian cuisine, we necessarily associate it with generosity, sunshine, pasta, etc. But we do not always think of the wide range of flavours that it can offer us. With this Italian Spice Mix, whatever the dish you use it in, you will be immersed in the atmosphere of this country of a thousand colours.
Since the Republican era, Italians have been used to using aromatic herbs to make their meals tastier. We even know that at that time, they created a sauce (called garum) that looked very similar to nuoc-mâm, which allowed them to season their dishes.
Contemporary Italian cuisine is the result of centuries of culinary inspiration from all over the world (Arabic, Slavic, Austrian, Amerindian, Berber, etc.). Not to mention that each of the kingdoms that make up Italy today has its own gastronomic traditions.
The Italian Spice Blend is a blend of 5 aromatic plants that after being sprinkled on your dish, will take you across Italy from Emilia Romagna to Calabria. It is very popular on French and Italian tables.
Like many blends, its recipe is not fixed and can vary according to the tastes and expectations of each individual in terms of aromatic rendering.
The Italian Spice Mix that I have concocted for you is the result of a rigorous selection of 5 spices and herbs so the association will allow you to escape to a different Italian region each time you use it.
The niora pepper is a small Spanish pepper with a round shape. Like Espelette chilli pepper, it knows how to deliver inimitable flavours and warmth to all your dishes without extinguishing the other flavours because its spiciness is rather moderate.
The scents of garlic and basil will remind you of the Mediterranean region as a whole and Italy by extension. This duo of spice and grass will allow your dishes to take off for Provence and then cross the border into Ventimiglia to explore the treasures of Ancient Rome. Freshness and refinement are the key words of this duo.
As for onion and parsley, they will bring enough roundness to this blend to ensure that your Italian-inspired dishes develop all the flavours you could expect from them
This Italian Spice Blend has the particularity of delivering warm and slightly spicy flavours. It will therefore be able to match many of your dishes by sublimating the flavours of each of the ingredients with a spicy touch measured very delicately.
It is preferable to use this mixture on raw foods or at the very end of cooking in order to preserve the flavours of the aromatic herbs that compose it.
You can perfectly combine flavours by adding a pinch of other herbs such as Herbs of Provence or the Pizza Spice Mix.
It goes without saying that Italian-inspired dishes will be highlighted when they are decorated with this Italian Spice Blend.
How about creating a 100% Italian gourmet menu for your guests?
Let's start with a gourmet aperitif made with Bruschetta with tomatoes, fried squid with Romaine and olives with ascolane. Having sprinkled a little bit of this Italian Spice Mix on these preparations just before serving, you will make your guests' mouth water. But they are not done being surprised!
Let's go to the entrance (the famous Italian antipasti!): you can offer a Caprese Salad, Civelles a la Pisana in the style of chef Alain Ducasse or a Carpaccio de Bresaola and its rocket, which you will have previously decorated with this warm and slightly spicy touch offered by the Italian Spice Mix.
Let's continue with a tasty dish. Here again, the range of possibilities is very wide. For meat lovers, we suggest a delicious Braciola with tomato sauce whose flavours and aromas will be enhanced by a teaspoon of our Italian Spice Mix. If you prefer a dish with iodized scents, you can prepare a Puglia sea bream, a dish typical of special occasions, whose ingredients will blend perfectly with the Italian Spice Mix. And if you want to choose a vegetarian dish, why not prepare delicious Parmigiana Aubergines. All these meal suggestions can, of course, be accompanied by delicious Italian pasta: farfalle, fusili, linguine, orechiette and other penne.
Finally, after enjoying this multitude of savoury dishes, it will be very pleasant to finish on a softer note. I suggest you make a delicious Tiramisu, but this time it will be a matter of adding Tonka Bean to it (unless you are very bold and the Italian Spice Mix has become your favourite companion in the kitchen to the point of trying it in desserts...).
For everyday cooking:
If our Italian Spice Blend is a precious ally when preparing refined meals, it will perfectly delight the taste buds of young and old in everyday cooking. So don't hesitate to sprinkle half a teaspoon just before serving on your pasta dishes, risottos, homemade pizzas, as well as in a ratatouille or any meat or vegetable dish made with tomatoes. It can also be used on salads or potato dishes.
