Reading the name of this blend of spices, one would naturally be tempted to associate it with South America and more precisely with the country bearing the same name. However, the Ay Caramba Chile Spice Blend originated in the southern United States, in those states where cowboys led their herds from meadows to plains. Initially, this mixture was used to bring the necessary flavour to this South American "poor man's dish" and the flagship recipe of Tex-Mex cuisine: chili con carne. Rather spicy and with smoky notes, it accomplished its mission in a prodigious way.
Its name is simply inspired by a variety of chilli pepper called "Chile".
Traditionally, this blend is composed of a blend of 4 to 7 spices in different proportions depending on the regions of the world where it is prepared, the tastes of each, the flavors desired. It contains chilli, oregano, garlic, and other spices to achieve the desired aromatic palette.
The Ay Caramba Chile Spice Mix that I propose to you is composed of six ingredients specially selected to sublimely flavour each of the dishes in which you will integrate it. It comes in the form of a fine reddish-brown powder.
It goes without saying that this blend is not designed for overly sensitive palates since the hot pepper is at the top of the list of ingredients. The latter will of course bring its spice, but the capsaicin contained in the chilli pepper will also be beneficial for your digestion as well as for your silhouette since it has a unique power on your satiety.
With its six ingredients that I have scrupulously selected to offer you a trip to the lands worthy of Western scenery, this Ay Caramba Chile Spice Mix will conquer your nose and taste buds from the very first try.
On the nose, you will first feel the smoky notes of this blend and then the spicy aromas will be released, which will quickly be completed by the spiciness of the hot pepper.
Once in the mouth, you will be captured by a lasso of different taste sensations that will occur almost simultaneously. You will pass from smoky to spicy notes by feeling the sweet presence of garlic. Your taste buds will be pleasantly shaken up.
It is a molecule specific to chilli pepper - capsaicin - that will provide this specific spice while increasing your feeling of satiety and promoting fat burning.
The ingredients in this blend of spices make it an ideal companion in the preparation of meals typical of Tex-Mex cuisine, but also of dishes of Iberian origin.
The Ay Caramba Chile Spice Mix has a high resistance to long cooking times, each of the flavours will remain faithful to what you expect even when preparing simmered dishes.
You can also sprinkle it directly on your meats just before grilling them.
This spicy and tasty blend can perfectly replace the chilli pepper in any recipe by requiring it, it will also bring an additional and totally new flavor to your dish.
It seems obvious that this Ay Caramba Chile Spice Mix is the ideal ingredient to integrate into all your Tex-Mex and Iberian preparations. But he might surprise you by inviting himself into more unexpected recipes... Follow the guide!
For your tex-mex and Iberian inspirations :
The main dish of this cuisine, Chili con Carne, will of course be ennobled if you sprinkle half a teaspoon (a teaspoon if you don't dread the chilli pepper) into your preparation as soon as you start cooking.
Looking for exoticism without necessarily spending too much time in the kitchen? Why not consider making something to eat tacos? Corn tortillas, a few chicken fillets, salad, minced red onions, a few dice of peppers and tomatoes... and of course: Ay Caramba Chile Spice Mix to take you to Mexican countries (with or without sombrero, it's up to you). It will also work wonders on all your burritos, fajitas, and other nachos, but also in a Tinga Poblana (pork stew), a Mexican beef or a Mexican zucchini gratin.
To prepare your meat and fish :
The Spice mixture Ay Caramba Chile also makes a great addition to all your meat and fish dishes. Whether in simmered preparations such as pork or beef stews, or for parts you plan to grill on the barbecue, the aromatic palette of this blend will warmly enchant the palates.
Feel free to include it in the preparation of your fish and shellfish too! In a frying pan or in a gratin, white fish will be enhanced by this blend of spices. Also make a hot sauce with Ay Caramba Chili Spice Mix to accompany your Shrimp and Roasted Prawns and Prawns! A delight! Be inspired by Alain Ducasse and prepare Dim Sum Ravioli
To decorate your vegetables and starchy foods :
This wonderful blend of spices will also delightfully accompany all your vegetable and/or starchy dishes. Far from the image of Epinal that makes him the darling of Chile con Carne, he will make room for all vegetarian dishes!
Enjoy delicious stewed red beans with garlic and half a teaspoon of Ay Caramba Chile Spice Mix! Serve it with a delicious wild rice (you could have flavoured the cooking water with a little bit of the mixture)... And escape!
It will also be a wonderful way to reveal flavours in your vegetable woks.
This blend will also enhance all your pasta dishes, polentas, and other starches. Try it in particular in the Spaghetti with Puttanesca according to Julie Andrieu.
